[[ALS] - Advanced Life Support (ALS) Course
Overview
The Advanced Life Support (ALS) course builds upon the BLS Course focusing on advanced assessments and managements.
This instructor-led course is conducted within the Clinical Simulation Centre’s simulation suites using various teaching-learning modalities which include classroom lectures, discussions, Megacode sessions using sophisticated task trainers and simulators to emulate clinical scenarios and debriefing sessions encourages active participation and critical evaluations.
Course is held at our center. Here are the DIRECTIONS to our place.
- Conducted by experienced instructors from a wide background of clinical practice areas.
- Based on current resuscitation guidelines.
- Instructor led, hands on practical sessions reinforces skills proficiency.
- Course uses learning stations for practice of essential skills using simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active participation.
- Sophisticated simulators are used to simulate clinical scenarios for participants to interact with within learning stations.
- Participants who successfully completes the course and assessment requirements are awarded a certificate of completion.
- Basic ECG
- Pharmacology
- BLS and ALS surveys
- Management of respiratory arrest and airway adjuncts
- Acute coronary syndromes (ACS)
- Strokes
- Cardiac arrest
- Bradycardia
- Tachycardia

Successful certification requires a certain standard of competence in practical ability and theoretical understanding. As such, participants will be assessed by the following modes:
- Practical assessment
- Written assessment
- Megacode
- Valid BLS certification from a recognized training provider. .
- Participants are required to read the student manual prior to the course.
- Basic knowledge on ECG analysis and interpretation and; pharmacology is an added advantage to participants.

Participant who successfully fulfill the assessment requirements be eligible for a certificate of completion from UNIMAS with a validity period of two years.
