[AHA ACLS-P] - AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider Course

Overview

The American Heart Association’s (AHA’s) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Provider course builds upon the AHA BLS Course focusing on advanced assessments and managements. This advanced course highlights the importance of high-performance team dynamics and communications, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).


This instructor-led course is conducted within the Clinical Simulation Centre’s simulation suites using various teaching-learning modalities which include AHA’s signature video-based practice-while-watching (PWW) and Megacode sessions using sophisticated task trainers and simulators to emulate clinical scenarios.

  • Course content is delivered based on the syllabus outlined by the AHA.
  • Conducted by AHA certified instructors from a wide background of clinical practice areas.

  • 1:6 instructor-student ratio ensures conducive class size and attention to each participant.
  • The AHA’s signature practice-while-watching (PWW) video based course ensures consistency in training.
  • Instructor led, hands on practical sessions reinforces skills proficiency.
  • Course uses learning stations for practice of essential skills using simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active participation.
  • Sophisticated simulators are used to simulate clinical scenarios for participants to interact with within learning stations.
  • Participants who successfully completes the course and assessment requirements are awarded with official AHA certification which is internationally recognized.
  • BLS skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of per-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and strokes
  • Effective communication as a member and leader for a resuscitation team

Successful certification requires a certain standard of competence in practical ability and theoretical understanding. As such, participants will be assessed by the following modes as set forth by the AHA.
  • Practical assessment
  • Written assessment
  • Megacode
  • Valid BLS certification.
  • Participants are required to read the student manual prior to the course.
  • Complete the AHA online pre-course self-assessment and print out assessment result for submission prior to course (detailed in pre-course letter and student manual).
  • Basic knowledge on ECG analysis and interpretation and; pharmacology is an added advantage to participants.

Participant who successfully fulfil the assessment requirements set forth by the AHA will be eligible for the following certificates which is valid for two years (from the date of the course):
